Cellular Therapy

Cellular therapy is our most advanced offering. It is meant to not only trigger the healing process as with the entry-level Prolo, and accelerate it as with the intermediate PRP, but to also provide a very large number of cells, thought to be the key component to tissue generation. It is thus the most potent option but also the most costly. Furthermore, it can be more invasive, yet still very safe. It focuses squarely on the cause of your problem, bringing the most resources to bear.

Cells can be harvested from a number of sources:
  • BMAC - cells can be aspired from your bone marrow, typically in the hip area. They are then concentrated into a Bone Marrow Aspirate Concentrate (BMAC).
  • ADSC - Adipose Derived Stem Cells can be taken from your fat tissue through a mini-liposuction. This is also done through aspiration (a mini liposuction), and is a little more invasive although not quite as much as surgery.  The FDA has somewhat restricted this type of procedure in the recent past.
  • Amniotic Fluid – provided by a third party tissue bank.  These cell do NOT come from embryos but from donor materials that would otherwise be commonly discarded during routine deliveries.  Such cells are know to contain a large number of growth factors that are thought to activate your own stem cells.
  • Umbilical Cord Blood – also provided by a third party tissue bank.  These cell do NOT come from embryos but from donor materials that would otherwise be commonly discarded during routine deliveries.  Such tissues contain a very large number of stem cells.  They constitute the most potent formula available.
  • Very recently, the FDA is considering approval of stem cells that are grown from your own or even outside sources. This promises the availability of a much larger amount of stem cells, potentially orders of magnitude. The more stem cells, the more material available to regrow tissue and speed up healing. This will remove the need to go abroad, take more risks, pay inflated prices and incur additional travel costs.
For any of sources above, or a combination, NuStem can prepare a potent cell solution that is then injected in your problematic area. For hard to reach places or wide-reaching conditions, it can even be injected intravenously, and is thought to still reach the troubled area. This solution is highly concentrated: it contains a very large number of cells that are intended to immediately go to work where they are needed, in an effort to trigger the healing process without delay.

Regenerative cellular therapies such as the use of stem cells are widely studied as adjunctive therapies for many conditions, including acute injuries in the skeletal-muscular system as well as in inner organs such as the heart or the brain. Cell therapy does not replace standard therapies as recommended by your doctor, but may serve as an addition to existing or recommended therapies.  Currently, stem cell therapy is not FDA-approved and is considered experimental.  However, numerous published studies worldwide have shown significant benefits.  Stem cell therapy might represent one of the most potent future medical therapies.

NuStem is offering patient-funded research to provide individual patients with regenerative cellular therapy. NuStem is not involved in the use or manufacture of any investigational drugs. NuStem uses scientific protocols in a systematic manner with scheduled follow up appointments and objective measures for scientific purposes. NuStem is not offering cell therapy as a cure for any condition, disease or injury. Any decision to participate in our patient-funded experimental protocols is completely voluntary.
